Arkansas Organization Battles Cancer with Barbecue

LITTLE ROCK, ARK.; MARCH 4, 2016 – The 8th annual B Street Rib Off will take place on Saturday, April 2nd at Argenta Plaza in North Little Rock. The annual event features a BBQ cooking competition focused on amateur cooking teams from across the mid-south and event organizers donate all proceeds from the event to the American Cancer Society of Central Arkansas.

“The B. Street Rib Off is here again and we, at the American Cancer Society, are so grateful for the cooking teams who continue to support our mission to finish the fight against cancer. I would like to encourage everyone to come out and fill up on some delicious food while supporting the American Cancer Society’s mission of helping people stay well, get well, finding cures and fighting back!” said Sherri Jones, American Cancer Society – Director, Community Engagement

In addition to the BBQ competition, the event will feature live music, a few of Central Arkansas’s most popular food trucks, cold refreshments from Flyway Brewing and a raffle that includes merchandise from several Arkansas retailers. Teams interested in cooking for the competition can register at BStreetRibOff.org. There teams will also find a list of rules and more information about participation.

BBQ cooks aren’t the only folks encouraged to participate. Anyone can attend the event and judge the People’s Choice category for a small donation. The event is family friendly and will kick off at 8 a.m. with results announced at 4 p.m. on April 2nd.

The B Street Rib Off was founded in 2008 by Jason Brown, Justin Hinton and Matthew Ross as a friendly competition. After increased interest, the three friends turned the annual event into a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The organization now boasts a board of directors with nine members from across the state.
